Sk8 Academy, an introductory figure skating program, is designed to assist the skater to transition from Canskate to the Skate Canada Starskate Program.  Sk8 Academy, taught by NCCP certified professional coaches in a small group format, introduces skaters to the foundations of figure skating  and teaches skills for learning to train and practice for the sport.

In addition to edges, turns, stops, spins and jumps, skaters learn warm-up drills both on and off the ice as well as skate care and equipment requirements. At the Sk8 Academy level, off-ice training is introduced.

Participation in the program is through coaches’ assessment and recommendation only.
